Even with careful cleaning of your cast iron pans, knives and other household tools, they can still develop a little rust once in a while.
An easy and none toxic way to remove the rust is as simple as using a potato! Simply cut it in half and dip the cut end into dish soap or one of our favourites, baking soda. Then, firmly rub it over the rusted area. If the end of the potato gets slick, slice it off and apply more soap or abrasive and repeat until the rust is removed. Once your household item has been rinsed and then dried, it is ready to go.
